Burmese сat - the grace of a panther and smoothness of the silk.

Beauty of the Burmese is "the golden mean", a combination of classical elegance and rigor. This is one of the few animals mere contemplation of which is able to bring you great aesthetic pleasure. Information about the origin of these ancient breed is very contradictory. Some sources claim that the Burmese cat was the temple animal worshipped as the deity about 500 years ago. According to the legend, each monk had to take care of his cat indulging all his whims. Moreover, the better the monk took care of his animal, the closer he was to God. It is believed that in Europe the first Burmese cat appeared thanks to Dr. Joseph Thompson from San Francisco. A charming cat with an oriental name of Wong Mau was brought to America from the west coast of Burma in 1930. She became the matriarch of all Burmese in Europe.

Let’s return to the beauty and character of the Burmese. This cat is distinguished by a strong, athletic and elegant body, stunning shiny silk coat and a penetrating gaze of the amber eyes. The texture and the quality of coat is unique only to Burmese. The soft, short coat of the Burmese is easily taken care of. There’s no need in weekly brushing or combing to remove dead hair. A bath is rarely necessary. And for a pleasant pastime and a better gloss the aesthetes can comb the coat with a rubber brush and polish it with chamois. Burmese has not only a magnificent appearance, but also a distinct personality. The Burmese can enter an already established team of pets either it is an aged cat or a large dog. Above all they get along with children very well and share all their games. Its patience towards them has no limits, even to the youngest ones. Burmese does not bite or scratch. In other words more than anything else Burmese needs the company of a human. It likes sitting on the lap, sleeping on the bed and pressing its forehead against the owner’s face – “butting”. It always feels the mood of its master and does not impose its presence. It is highly intelligent, cheerful, curious and gentle animal.

The colors of the Burmese cat are so varied that it can sometimes be difficult to make a choice. These are brown (sable), chocolate, blue, lilac, red, cream and wonferful  tortoiseshell colors from brown-red to lilac-cream.

Having once seen Burmese you shell never forget the experience. And once you get to know it the idea of having another breed will disappear forever. That is exactly what happened to me and made me love this very breed for the rest of my life.

In case any questions should arise or you are in search of the kitten of your dreams I schell be the one you turn to.
